Bomb Threat Emails Sent to Four Delhi Hospitals: Officials
Four Delhi hospitals, including Deepchand Bandhu Hospital, Dada Dev Hospital, Hedgewar Hospital, and Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, were on high alert on Tuesday after receiving bomb threat emails. This incident comes just two days after 20 hospitals, the airport, and the office of the Northern Railways’ CPRO in the capital also received similar threatening messages.
Officials reported that the Delhi Fire Service received calls regarding the bomb threats at these four hospitals. The bomb disposal squad, bomb detection team, fire department, and local police quickly responded to conduct thorough searches. Despite the urgency of the situation, nothing suspicious has been found so far.
The sequence of events began at 10.45 am when the first call came in from Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital in north Delhi’s Ashok Vihar. Subsequent calls followed from Dada Dev Hospital in southwest Delhi, Hedgewar Hospital in east Delhi, and GTB Hospital in Shahdara. Security officers at the hospitals confirmed that checks were conducted, but no threats were detected.
This alarming trend of bomb threat emails is not isolated to hospitals, as various places, including schools, have also been targeted in the last month. Just two days prior, Indira Gandhi International Airport and several government hospitals in Delhi received similar threats, prompting a thorough investigation by the Delhi Police.
The gravity of the situation is evident as the list of hospitals receiving bomb threats continues to grow, with names like Dada Dev Hospital, Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Hindu Rao Hospital, and others being targeted. Despite the chaos and panic caused by these threats, the Ministry of Home Affairs has labeled them as “hoaxes.”
Law enforcement agencies are working diligently to ensure the safety and security of the public, conducting thorough checks and investigations at each targeted location. The recent spate of bomb threats has put the city on edge, but authorities are taking all necessary precautions to address the situation and maintain peace and order.
