Financial Assistance Program
Keck Medicine of USC hospitals are dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare services to all members of the community, regardless of their ability to pay. Through their Financial Assistance Program, eligible patients can receive medically necessary services at no cost or at a reduced cost.
The program uses poverty guidelines issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to determine a patient’s eligibility for financial assistance. Patients with family income under 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) may qualify for free care, while those with income between 201% and 400% FPL may receive care at a sliding scale discount. Uninsured patients with income above 400% FPL will receive the Compact discounted rate.
Patients in need of financial assistance can complete a Confidential Financial Assistance Application, and may also be provided with information on other governmental programs such as Medi-Cal or the Healthy Families Program.
Physicians at Keck Medicine hospitals are committed to following the financial assistance program’s approval for payment obligation forgiveness, ensuring that eligible services, including emergency or medically necessary procedures, are covered.
If a patient believes they were wrongly denied financial assistance, they have the option to file a complaint with the State of California’s Hospital Bill Complaint Program.
For those who require language assistance, interpreter services are available in multiple languages, including Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, and more.
Documents related to the Financial Assistance Program are available for download, and assistance with completing the application can be obtained by calling (855) 532-5729.
Overall, Keck Medicine of USC’s Financial Assistance Program aims to ensure that financial constraints do not prevent individuals from accessing the healthcare services they need.
