35th Annual Wolfson Children’s Hospital Bass Tournament Raises Over $385,400 for Terry Heart Institute
The 35th annual Wolfson Children’s Hospital Bass Tournament in Jacksonville, Florida, was a huge success, raising over $385,400 for the Terry Heart Institute. More than 1,000 anglers from across Florida and the Southeast participated in the event, making it one of the largest bass fishing tournaments in the state.
The tournament, held in Palatka, featured different competitions over three days, with the main tournament taking place on Saturday, May 18. The first-place winners, Parker Stalvey of Green Cove Springs and Syler Prince of Palatka, impressed with a 5-fish aggregate weight of 27.79 pounds. This duo has a history of success in the tournament, with Prince winning first place in previous competitions.
Other notable winners included the father-son team of Joe and Joey Cotromano of Yulee, who took second place, and Terry Mullis of Ocala and Miranda Crews of Charlton, who secured third place.
The tournament raised funds through sponsorships and donations for the Terry Heart Institute at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, supporting life-saving cardiology and heart surgery equipment. Since its inception in 1989, the tournament has raised over $7 million for the hospital and its patients.
Participants and community members can still support the cause by entering a drawing for a chance to win a 21′ 2024 Bullet Boat valued at $97,000. Ticket sales close on May 31, with the winner announced on June 1. All proceeds from the boat drawing will benefit the Terry Heart Institute.
The success of the tournament would not have been possible without the support of anglers, volunteers, sponsors, and the City of Palatka. The event continues to make a significant impact on the lives of children and families in Northeast Florida and beyond.
