Ribbon-cutting ceremony at UCI Health ― Fountain Valley marks historic moment
UCI Health marked a historic moment with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at UCI Health ― Fountain Valley, celebrating the successful acquisition of four community hospitals. The event, which took place on March 28, 2024, was attended by UCI Health leadership and co-workers, as well as members of the media.
The acquisition of Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, Lakewood Regional Medical Center, Los Alamitos Medical Center, and Placentia-Linda Hospital will enable Orange County’s only academic health system to expand access to care and improve health in communities. With the addition of 858 inpatient beds, UCI Health now has a total of 1,317 beds to meet the increasing demand for intensive and critical care needs.
UCI Health President and CEO Chad T. Lefteris expressed his excitement about the acquisition, stating, “Together, we will transform healthcare delivery in Southern California. We will serve as an example to the nation, as we lead the intersection of academic and community healthcare.”
The acquisition also allows more patients to access advanced therapies through the region’s largest and most diverse portfolio of clinical trials. UCI Health has consistently ranked in the top 10 for quality and safety among comprehensive academic health systems and received the Clinical Research Achievement Award from the Clinical Research Forum.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was covered by the Daily Pilot and other media outlets, highlighting the significance of this moment for UCI Health and the communities it serves. With this acquisition, UCI Health is poised to lead the way in healthcare delivery and innovation in Southern California.
