UPDATE: Lockdown lifted at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital

Lockdown at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh: State Police take individual into custody in connection with alleged threat towards staff

The Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH) in Plattsburgh was placed on lockdown this morning due to a credible threat towards a member of the hospital’s staff. State Police took an individual into custody in connection with the alleged threat, which led to a heavy police presence on Ashley Road in Beekmantown.

The lockdown was lifted at 10 a.m. after hospital officials determined that there was no longer a threat. Patient care continued during the lockdown, although some appointments and procedures were delayed or postponed. CVPH Administrator Katherine Peterson expressed gratitude for the quick and professional response from law enforcement agencies.

Plattsburgh City Police Chief Peter Mitchell stated that the lockdown was initiated after the hospital received a threatening voicemail message. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with authorities urging the public to report any suspicious activity.

This incident comes just two months after the arrest of an armed suspect who had made threats towards CVPH. The hospital did not go into lockdown at that time as the suspect was being apprehended. The suspect, Robert Thibodeau, remains in custody on multiple weapons charges.

CVPH is expected to release a statement with more information on the incident. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
