Update on Wynn Hospital: Six-Month Progress Report and Challenges Ahead
MVHS and Wynn Hospital Provide Six-Month Update
UTICA, N.Y. — MVHS and Wynn Hospital leadership recently provided the public with a six-month update on the progress of the new facility. Physicians at MVHS have been working diligently to address any issues that have arisen since the opening of the hospital, and the feedback from patients has been overwhelmingly positive.
Dr. Sunil Motta, Chairman of Anesthesia at Wynn Hospital, shared a heartwarming story of receiving a thank-you card from a patient’s family, along with lottery tickets as a token of appreciation. This gesture is just one example of the positive feedback the hospital has been receiving.
While there have been challenges in adjusting to the new facility, MVHS President and CEO Darlene Stromstad acknowledges that it takes time for everything to feel familiar in a new environment. The hospital has made improvements, including increasing security and offering valet parking for ER patients to address parking issues.
Addressing rumors on social media, Dr. Sushma Kaul, president of Medical Staff at MVHS, debunked false claims that all doctors had been fired. Stromstad also addressed the reality that some physicians may choose to leave the hospital for various reasons.
Despite challenges such as revenue projections and increased travel nurse budgets, the quality of care at Wynn Hospital remains top-notch. Dr. Kaul expressed full confidence in the care provided at the hospital, stating that she would not hesitate to seek treatment there for herself or her loved ones.
By the numbers, Wynn Hospital has seen significant activity since opening in late October, including 10,000 surgeries, nearly 32,000 ER visits, and over 600 babies born at the facility. The hospital has also accommodated around 40,000 cars through valet parking and welcomed nearly 108,000 visitors since October.
Overall, the six-month update showcases the dedication of MVHS and Wynn Hospital staff in providing quality care to the community despite the challenges they may face.
