Latest Updates on Pune Porsche Accident Case: Hospital Peon Arrested for Bribe Collection and Blood Sample Tampering
In a shocking turn of events in the Pune Porsche car accident case, police have arrested a peon of Sassoon General Hospital for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹3 lakh. The bribe was meant for two senior doctors who replaced the blood samples of the juvenile driver involved in the accident with samples that showed no traces of alcohol.
The two doctors, identified as Dr. Ajay Taware and Dr. Shrihari Halnor, were arrested earlier for manipulating the blood samples of the accused teen driver. The hospital peon, Atul Ghatkamble, who works under Dr. Ajay Taware, was later apprehended. They have been remanded in police custody until May 30.
The incident occurred when a speeding Porsche, allegedly driven by the minor boy, collided with a motorcycle carrying two young IT professionals in the Kalyani Nagar area of Pune on May 19. The police claim that the 17-year-old driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
Further investigations revealed that the juvenile’s blood samples were tampered with, and another person’s samples were substituted for his. The police suspect financial transactions in the form of ‘kickbacks’ were involved in this manipulation.
The Pune Police commissioner, Amitesh Kumar, stated that the blood samples of the juvenile driver were replaced with another person’s samples, and the original samples were discarded. The investigation also uncovered that the juvenile’s father had contacted one of the doctors to change the blood samples.
The police have added several sections of the Indian Penal Code to the case, and further inquiries are being made to determine who else may have been involved in the cover-up. The father of the juvenile driver has also been implicated in the case.
This shocking revelation has raised concerns about the integrity of the investigation and the lengths to which individuals may go to evade justice. The case continues to unfold, shedding light on the complexities and challenges of seeking accountability in such tragic incidents.
