Inova to Begin Construction on New Hospitals in Springfield and Alexandria

Inova Plans to Start Building New Springfield, Alexandria Hospitals This Year

Inova Health System is gearing up to start construction on two new hospitals in Springfield and Alexandria, with plans to begin in the third quarter of 2024. The Springfield hospital, with a price tag of $612 million, will be located near the existing Springfield HealthPlex and will feature 110 beds spread across two patient towers, private rooms, an expanded emergency room, diagnostic imaging, and multiple procedural rooms. On the other hand, the $1 billion Alexandria facility will replace the current hospital on Seminary Road and include the Inova Schar Cancer Institute, a specialty care center, and a 550-space parking garage.

The timeline for completion of these projects is set for the third quarter of 2028, according to the Washington Business Journal. Additionally, Inova is also working on another facility in the Del Ray area called Inova Oakville at Potomac Yard, which will offer an emergency room, outpatient center, and medical offices.

These developments are part of Inova’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art healthcare in the eastern region of Northern Virginia. With these new hospitals on the horizon, residents can look forward to enhanced medical services and facilities in their communities.
