Singapore Airlines Flight SQ321 Turbulence Incident: More Than 20 Passengers in Intensive Care
The recent incident involving severe turbulence on a Singapore Airlines flight from London to Singapore has left more than 20 passengers in intensive care with spinal injuries. The flight, which had 211 passengers and 18 crew members onboard, encountered the turbulence over the Indian Ocean, leading to a tragic outcome for one passenger and injuries for many others.
According to reports, the turbulence caused the plane to suddenly drop, resulting in passengers who were not wearing their seatbelts being thrown into the ceiling. The director of Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital in Bangkok stated that 41 passengers were still receiving treatment at the hospital, with half of them in intensive care.
Among those injured are a two-year-old child with a concussion, as well as individuals with skull and brain injuries, muscular and soft tissue conditions, and spinal cord injuries. Seventeen people have undergone operations, with nine related to spinal injuries.
The airline has expressed its apologies for the incident, with the CEO offering his deepest apologies to those affected by the sudden extreme turbulence. The government of Singapore has promised a thorough investigation into the matter to determine the cause of the turbulence and prevent similar incidents in the future.
