Delhi News Live Updates: NCW Directs Delhi Police to Obtain Call Records in Swati Maliwal Assault Case
The National Commission of Women (NCW) has taken a significant step in the Swati Maliwal assault case investigation by directing the Delhi Police to obtain call records of all relevant individuals, including Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The NCW’s Chairperson Rekha Sharma has specifically called for the call detail records (CDRs) of individuals involved in the case, to determine on whose direction Mr. Bibhav Kumar was summoned after Swati Maliwal’s arrival at the CM’s residence.
Additionally, the Commission has emphasized the need for strict action against individuals issuing rape and death threats to Ms. Maliwal. The accused persons are expected to be charged under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, 1860. A comprehensive report on the matter is expected within 3 days.
In a related development, the Tiz Hazari court heard Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar’s bail plea in connection to the alleged assault case. During the court proceedings, Maliwal expressed her frustration at being labeled a BJP agent and highlighted the delay in filing a complaint in the case.
Meanwhile, Kejriwal has filed a petition in the Supreme Court to extend his interim bail in a separate case related to the now-scrapped excise policy. The Aam Aadmi Party has stated that Kejriwal’s health is a cause for concern, as he has reportedly lost weight and has high ketone levels. The CM has requested seven days to undergo various medical tests, including a PET-CT scan.
The developments in these cases are sure to keep the public and political observers on edge as the investigations unfold. Stay tuned for more updates on this evolving story.
